How to add insert the custom actions inside the existing Active Workspace Page? - siemens

I am new to Siemens' Teamcenter Active workspace, An Angularjs based framework for Product LifeCycle Management [PLM]. I need to do some customization in the existing UI.
Background:
I have Teamcenter / Active Workspace installed on IIS and access it using the URL like http://hostname:8080/awc12/#/ [Default URL of the basic Installation of Teamcenter Active worksapce]
I have created another Active workspace module using generateModule script provided by "Active workspace environment" and deployed on the IIS server and access it as an http://hostname:8080/myModule/#/mySubLocation
I want to insert a button on the Panel of the basic installation http://hostname:8080/awc12/#/com.siemens.splm.clientfx.tcui.xrt.showObject?uid=xxx
Upon clicking this button I want to launch newly created module http://hostname:8080/myModule/#/mySubLocation as a Modal dialog
Questions:
What steps do I need to take so that I can achieve adding the new button and opening a modal with my module page?
Where can I find the list of APIs that are exposed by Teamcenter Active workspace
Is there any document/site where I can find some Hello World applications with code?

Siemens provides this PDF on "Configuration and Extensibility" for Active Workspace 4.3:

Refresh browser on save in a non-local setup

I'm searching for a plugin that can autorefresh a specific page in my browser when I press CTRL+S in Visual Studio Code.
I'm working in a SaaS platform and I have to use WebDav to acces some Smarty template files .
I can live synchronise a local file to the platform when I save the file in VS Code, but I have to manualy refresh the browser each time to see the changes.
There are plugins that can autorefresh on save, but they are used in a local development setup.
As far as I can see, I can't use these plugins, because I can't execute the template files localy. I just change and upload them to the platform and see the result in the live website.
I found a solution with a browserextension:
Chrome: Autoreloader: reload tab on file change
Firefox: FileWatcher

Visual Studio 2017 ClickOnce - Unable to view published application

I have an application that I'm trying to publish to my website. The error I'm getting is that when done publishing, it says:
So it looks like it succeeded, but didn't.
My website is located at www.mywebsite.com.
In my build properties, under the publish tab, I click options->deployment, then set deployment webpage title to 'rdl', then I check automatically generate deployment webpage after every publish
I then go through the Publish Wizard:
Specify the location to publish this application: ftp://www.mywebsite.com/
Click next.
Check From a website: Specify the url: http://www.mywebsite.com/
Check Yes, this application will be available online or offline
The final page then states:
The application will be published to:
ftp://www.mywebsite.com/
Users will launch this application from:
http://www.mywebsite.com/
Click Finish
I am then left with the error described in the image above.
When I go to cPanel (my web host), I am able to see the Application Files folder which includes my application folder inside it.My .deploy and .application file are also located there along with any assets I had.
This Application Files folder is on the same level as the public_html folder if that matters.
Any help would be appreciated, I'm not exactly sure where I'm going wrong!

AppSrv01 doesnt have write permission

i know that the default profile name when i installed websphere was Appsrv01, I want to create my own AppSrv02 but the location of my IBM Websphere was in C: and i dont have any write permission, i dont have any admin rights also..
using COMMAND-LINE, I want to make my profile folder to be writable, so that my newly created AppSrv02 will be list down in the profile names in my RAD.
Please help me. Thanks
So that's your problem. In order to have a usable profile in WAS, your user must have write permissions. See this link from WAS ND infocenter, it applies to WAS standalone too.
http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSAW57_8.5.5/com.ibm.websphere.installation.nd.doc/ae/tpro_manage_nonroot.html
If you cannot change the write permissions to this profile, you'll need to create your own. For this, you can either use WAS Profile Management Tool, WAS CLI or you can create your profile using the Configure profiles... link in the WAS server creation wizard you posted. I'd use the RAD way because RAD validates, within the IDE, the proper permissions that you need to create and use the profile within RAD.
First check whether you have admin rights or not if your using User/Guest profile, by creating any new folder in C drive where IBM WAS is installed.
If you have Admin rights, than right click on RAD run as administrator. It should work fine.
If Profile doesnt show up in drop down, Configure new profile and try checking that way.
If you dont have Admin rights better install RAD in any local drive other than C
Running Eclipse with Admin rights and removing the read-only tick for the AppServXX folder/WAS folder couldn't help me... cause I copied the WAS server from another PC :). So for those of you who want to move / migrate your development environment:
I did a search inside the copied WAS, Eclipse and the project's workspace folder for their old paths (with Total Commander, feed the results into a list) and dragged all the files (except the log ones) into my editor (NotePad++) and did a replace in all open documents for the new paths. It's a bit lucrative, but it took only 10 minutes for me and afterwards the WAS server in Eclipse showed the correct profile and it also did start up well.

Add a template from a non-storefront cartridge to Demandware Content Slot Configuration?

I'm using the Demandware Business Manager to create a new content slot configuration for a pre-existing content slot following the Demandware DiD Instructor Guide (pg. 152). My issue is that I'm being told to add a content slot configuration to "merchant-product" using a template that is in the "training" cartridge. However, when I try to add a template, the pop up (from clicking [...]) only allows me to view templates that are within the storefront cartridge.
This template is in the "training" cartridge because the instructions indicated to put it in the "training" cartridge instead of the "storefront" cartridge. I have included the "training" cartridge in my site settings as per the instructions. Why does this cartridge not appear as an available cartridge to use templates from?
How do I add this (non-storefront) cartridge in so that I may use a template from it?
Please follow the instruction below.
Go to your Sandbox - Business Manager.
On the left nav, navigate to Sites -> Manage Sites -> [Select your
Site/Store Name e.g. SiteGenesis]
Click on it, then you will see some tabs some as General, Settings,
Cache, and Security.
Go click Settings tab.
On the Cartridges text field, you will something like this:
sitegenesis_storefront_richUI:sitegenesis_storefront_core
Add your cartridge name having this separation of colon symbol.
Saves Changes and apply.
Make sure to clean your cache after doing this.
Try again to access your cartridge outside of storefront app and let me know.
To solve please copy slots folder under templates/default/ folder.

Deployment of About.htm with ClickOnce

I have a Win app (VB.net 2005) with an About.htm page that comes up when the user presses F1, using a HelpProvider control.
The application was deployed using ClickOnce technology. When I release a new version I have to manually copy the About.htm file from my development area to our LAN (specified by the HelpNamespace property of the HelpProvider control).
Is there a way I can include this as part of the deployment?
Thank you.
Add the file to your project and set the build action to 'content' and 'copy to output directory' to 'copy always'. Then the file will be included in the deployment when you build and deploy.
To locate it programmatically, assuming you're using winforms (because you're using vs2005), you can find it by looking for it at System.Windows.Forms.Application.StartupPath.
You can open it by doing a Process.Start("iexplore.exe", myHtmlFile). You could also make a form and show the about file in a web browser control pointing to the file as a URI.

I think the best way is to make your Help-File a part of the Application. Take a look at this question. With this way the Help-File will be downloaded with your Click-Once application.
