I am developing a video game in unity 2D but I need to know which are the best applications to create pixel art
Here is a short list of what came to my mind, it is by far not complete.
You can use MS Paint with the Magnifier to create precise pixel art, but it does not support shadowing etc. If you use JPEG, every save-action will add more JPEG artifacts.
Paint.net is free and powerful, a good alternative to the limited MS Paint.
Photoshop also shows the pixel grid if you zoom in, but MOST tools and brushes are not really suitable for pixel art, in my opinion.
Kenney.NL aka "Asset Jesus" has a lot of free packs, also a few tools, of which I would recommend KenShape (https://tools.kenney.nl/kenshape/) for pixel art. (edit: I think that only generates 3D voxel models... whoops)

I'd like to provide users with the ability to edit the shape, form and properties of their 3D character from templates.
What are the general processes and delineations of responsibility when targeting iOS and using Xcode, Swift, Scene Kit and a 3D modelling application?
I'm no expert in anything 3D related but I believe I can help in this case.
iOS has a 3D engine called SceneKit, you can programmatically create basic 3D objects.
For complex objects you usually create them in an external program such as Cheetah3D and then you can import them and interact with the object in SceneKit.
Some references you may find useful:

The Ray Wenderlich site has been a great resource for me learning iOS, they have alot of tutorials, video tutorials and even ebooks that you can purchase on a number of topics including game development with iOS and Unity.

I am planing to develop an app like Word Lens. Can any one suggest a good library that I can use? or any one explain technology behind the Word Lens App? is it reel time image matching or OCR? I know some image processing library like OpenCv, tesseract...Any help is greatly appreciated...
I'm one of the creators of Word Lens. Although there are some OCR libraries out there (like tesseract), we decided to make our own in order to get better results and performance. Our general algorithm goes like this:
copy the image from the camera and get its grayscale component
level out the image so the text stands out clearly against the background
draw boxes around things that look like characters & sentences
do OCR: match the pixels in each box against a database of characters -- this is actually pretty hard!
collect the characters into words, look up in a dictionary (this is hard too, because there will be mistakes in the OCR)
draw the results back onto the image
Image matching by itself is not good enough, because of the huge variety of fonts, words, and languages out there.
OpenCV is a great library to get up and running with, and to learn more about computer vision in general. I would recommend building off their examples, and playing around there. Have fun!

I am new to iphone development.I am wroking on a 2D game by using cocos 2D .I am checking whether there is any software which is there for texture creating .when i searched all are paid software like texture packer, zwoptex . I am looking for free software which can be used to create texture.
TexturePacker, SpriteHelper and Zwoptex let you create texture atlases for cocos2d from individual images. They cost less than $20.
The TexturePacker trial version includes a command line version of TexturePacker that you can use for free. It has fewer features than the Pro version.
The only free alternative is Zwoptex (Flash) which is hopelessly outdated, not efficient, can only create 1024x1024 atlases and most importantly it can't update existing texture atlases automatically.
If you're looking for a free program to create images, check out Seashore and Gimp.

I have an image on my device which I capture from camera. The image has readable text. I want to convert that image into text i.e. get the text of image and display it.
I went through Tesseract demo, but not all the text of image is converted into text. I know that there are few paid SDK's like ABBY SDK available for this, but I was looking for some free source.
Are there other SDKs available for the same?
See this for how to do something quick on iOS with Tesseract. I doubt you will get the accuracy you want though. So far I haven't found a good opensource solution because the iPhone camera is not well suited to this problem. There are a few online API options that do better.
Oh and one word of advice, don't pay for anything without trying it in your situation :)

I am looking for an example that renders an interactive earth similar to the one in the Smule products.
Someone just pointed me to this question. I have one!
It's called WhirlyGlobe and it's built specifically for this purpose. Runs on ios, uses a combo of Objective-C and C++ and is very Cocoa Touch friendly. Uses delegates for camera motion, multithreaded, all that good stuff.
Oh, and it's freely available under the Apache2 license.
Details can be found here:
http://mousebird.github.io/WhirlyGlobe/
I can't offer any samples, but Dragon Forged Software sells a prepackaged OpenGL ES Globe for the iPhone. http://dragonforged.com/consult.shtml
A company name Clever Coding offers a opengl implementation of a 3D globe for sale at http://www.clevercoding.com/iPhone3Dglobe.php
